Custodial History
[Source - Henry Fagan for FHYA, 2022: Originally written by G.C. Hobson in English sometime before 1929. The book was then expanded and translated into Afrikaans by S.B. Hobson sometime before 1929. By April 1945, S.E.K. Mqhayi had produced a manuscript of the isiXhosa translation. He worked using the English text. Mqhayi's died shortly after completing the translation, leaving V.M. Bam from Middedrift Secondary School to complete a review of the orthography in early February 1947. The book appears to have been published immediately thereafter by Lovedale Press. A copy was acquired by UCT Libraries on 22 April 1947. Scanned by FHYA in December 2021 and uploaded by Benathi Marufu for FHYA in February 2022.]
