Custodial History
[Source - Henry Fagan for FHYA, 2022: Largely written by George William Stow before his death in 1882. The unfinished manuscript was purchased by the linguist Lucy Lloyd at an unknown date. Lloyd had intended to publish the work, but became preoccupied by other duties. In 1904, she presented it to G. M. Theal, who set to work on preparing it for publication. This involved cutting unncessary material, organising the remainder of the book into digestable chapters, and introducing a preface. Theal had completed his editing by May 1905. The book was published by Swan Sonnenschein & Co., Ltd. in London and the Macmillan Co. in New York that same year. A copy of the book was acquired by Cornell University Library at an unknown date. It was then digitised by HathiTrust Digital Library at an unknown date. Acquired online by Ettore Morelli at an unknown date. Acquired by FHYA in late 2021 via Morelli. Uploaded by Benathi Marufu for FHYA in February 2022.]
